From Seville, you have three options to reach us: car, bus from the city centre, or taxi directly from the airport. After approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes of travel and a change of province (from Seville to Huelva), you will arrive in Alájar. Situated at an altitude of 574 metres, this small Andalusian village with authentic charm is the ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding area.
The tranquil atmosphere, whitewashed houses and unhurried pace make it a perfect place to relax.

Our houses are located a 20-minute walk from the centre, nestled amongst hills and by the river.
The old mill, carefully restored, is today Molino Río Alájar: a complex of six natural stone houses integrated into a green and tranquil valley.
This region is a true haven for lovers of hiking, birdwatching, nature, and sunshine.

A swimming pool, tennis court, boules pitch, table football and table tennis are available throughout your stay.

The programme

Day 1 Arrival at Alájar:

Arrival at the Natural Park.
Night in Molino Río Alájar.
Optional dinner.

Upon arrival, it's possible to take a short walk (4.8 km – approximately 1 hour 30 minutes) to the village to discover tapas bars, restaurants, and local shops.

Day 2 Hippy Hike

Circular route amongholm oaks and chestnut trees.
Night in Molino Río Alájar.

The walk crosses holm oak forests and runs partly along Roman roads. The route passes through the picturesque village of El Calabacino, known for its alternative and tranquil atmosphere, before reaching the charming white village of Castaño del Robledo. Depending on the time of day, you can stop at a terrace for lunch or simply enjoy the local atmosphere. An authentic immersion into rural Andalusia, amidst villages with character and preserved landscapes.

Day 3 Gorge Walk

Varied walk through valley, pastureland, and open countryside.
One of the most complete routes in the area.

The “Gorge Walk” route is one of the most representative of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche. Over a moderate distance, it showcases all the scenic richness of the region. The route passes through dehesas dotted with cork oaks, olive groves, and chestnut trees, continuing through meadows and farms where Iberian pigs, cows, and goats graze. You walk alongside a gorge and follow the course of a winding river that leads you to your accommodation. Birdwatching enthusiasts will particularly enjoy it, as numerous bird species can be observed depending on the season. A complete hike that combines nature, tradition, and biodiversity.

Day 4 Alájar – Linares – Aracena (13 km – 4 hours):

Stage between villages with a stop in Linares de la Sierra.
Arrival in Aracena.
Night at Hotel Convento Aracena.

After breakfast, leave your luggage at reception (we'll take care of the transport) before heading towards Linares de la Sierra, a charming village nestled in the heart of the natural park. In the afternoon, you'll continue towards Aracena via a scenic route. This town, the most important in the park, is dominated by its 13th-century church and its castle perched atop the hill. Upon arrival, accommodation at theHotel Convento 4★, elegant 17th-century former convent, beautifully restored. If time permits, you can explore the famous Grotto of Wonders, impressive cave network with spectacular stalactites, or visit The Iberian Ham Museum to discover the secrets of this gastronomic tradition linked to the dehesa. If you prefer to relax, the spa invites you to rest.

Day 5 Aracena – Valdezufre (12.5 km – 3 hr):

Paths between hills and meadows.
Night in Posada de Valdezufrera.

After breakfast, you begin a pleasant stage between Aracena and Valdezufre. The path crosses holm oaks, meadows, and shaded paths with beautiful views over hills and valleys. Along the way, you'll pass by a farm where fighting bulls live, protected by ancient stone walls. Upon arrival, Valdezufre greets you with its white houses and tranquil atmosphere. Your luggage will already be waiting for you there. In the afternoon, you can relax in the village, have a coffee on a terrace before dining at the hotel restaurant.

Day 6 Valdezufre – Zufre (18 km – 5h30):

Open landscapes and reservoir views.
Arrival in Zufre.
Night at Casa Bella Vista Zufre.

After breakfast, you begin a pleasant stage between Valdezufre and Zufre, a historic village perched atop a hill with wide views over the Sierra and the reservoir. The route, of medium difficulty, crosses varied landscapes until you reach Zufre, with its narrow streets and whitewashed houses. Of medieval origin, it retains an authentic atmosphere and is an ideal place to pause. Upon arrival, you can explore its streets, visit the church and the Plaza Mayor before settling into your accommodation located in the square itself.

Day 7 Roundtrip in Zufre (8 km – 2 h 30):

Route around the reservoir.
Night at Casa Bella Vista Zufre.
Breakfast at Café Dos Benitos.

After breakfast, you will take a circular walk from Zufre, skirting the reservoir. The path winds through hills and pastures with holm and cork oaks, offering the chance to see waterfowl and local wildlife. It is a walk with gentle inclines. Upon your return, it is recommended to visit Paseo de los Alcaldes square, a spectacular plaza with stunning views, where there are also bars and restaurants.
