Located in the Natural Park of Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, the rural houses Molino Rio Alájar offer you through this program, a family vacation with a combination of outdoor experiences in contact with nature, educational and cultural activities, and also activities to discover and enjoy the local cuisine.

Nature and hiking: The Sierra de Aracena offers numerous hiking routes through impressive natural landscapes where you can enjoy gentle and safe walks to explore the local flora and fauna.
Outdoor activities: To enjoy with the family and allow children to have fun and learn while being in contact with nature.
Visits to towns and cultural heritage: The area has numerous picturesque towns and a rich cultural heritage. We offer you to visit its historical monuments and learn about its traditions.
Natural parks and reserves: The Sierra de Aracena is home to a wide biodiversity, with a great variety of flora and fauna species where families can enjoy birdwatching, learn about native flora and fauna, and participate in environmental education activities.
Local gastronomy: Known for its local products such as Iberian ham, cheeses, and honey, you can taste and enjoy the local gastronomy at restaurants and shops in the area.

Arrival at Molino Rio Alájar
Depending on the time of your arrival, you will be able to settle in your house and enjoy our facilities and common areas: swimming pool, children’s pool, sandpit, petanque court, foosball, ping-pong, outdoor chess table, tennis court, where you can also play football with goals and a basketball net.
8:30 PM Dinner in your rural house with a welcome menu
Saturday: Cave, Castle, and Ham!
10:30 am: Visit to the Caves of Wonder in Aracena
12 pm: Visit to the Jamón Museum in Aracena
3 pm: Visit to the Castle of Aracena and the Old Town Hall (interpretation center of the Natural Park)
5:30 pm: Tour of Aracena on a tourist train
Sunday: Excursion to “Mars”! Visit to the Rio Tinto Mining Park
10:30am: Visit to the Mining Museum
11:30am: Transfer with your car to the Peña Hierro Mines and its Visitor Center (entrance at 12pm)
1pm: Transfer by car to the steam train (departure at 1.30pm)
5pm: Visit House 21, built in 1885, and the English Quarter to discover the traces of 100 years of British presence in Riotinto.
Monday: Like Picasso, in the countryside!!
10am-12pm: Outdoor creativity activities: painting, drawing, crafts to enjoy with and in nature around your rural house
1pm: Rural picnic with local products
Tuesday: Don Quixote and his Donkey or jump on a Horse!

10am In Aracena, enjoy a horseback ride (beginners level) and discover the surroundings of the Sierra de Aracena. Picadero El Chaparral.
Wednesday: Adventurer Day, like Zorro!
11am: Trail-Scavenger Hunt (5.7km – 2h with children)
Following our instructions, the little ones, with the help of their parents, will have to find the path that will lead them to the village of Alájar. A new route, with the challenge of finding 5 springs during the hike!! Once discovered, take a photo and if you have them all, a small prize awaits you at the Casa Cruz Restaurant
Thursday: Cheese Chef, Great Day!
10am: Visit to an ecological farm with a goat cheese factory.
It will start with the work of milking the goats. Then, a visit to a small museum of ancient objects, where their uses in the past will be discussed. You will continue at the cheesery, where the cheese making process and the aging process will be described until they are ready for consumption. Next, you will move to the workshop room, where everyone will make their own organic cheese that you can take home.
Friday: Ecotourism Expert!
11am: Ecotourism route starting from Peña de Arias Montano.
Animal tracking? Bird or plant recognition? Medicinal and natural plants? Let us know what interests you the most and go on an excursion with a specialized ecotourism guide, a true expert in our environment and its inhabitants!

Our recommendations of houses for families
Casa la Tortuga sleeps 5 people one double and one triple room. All the other cottages can sleep a family of 4 in two bedrooms, except El Buho, our smallest cottage, which can accommodate small families, ideal for a couple with a baby.
In Casa la Aguila, the second open bedroom is a twin room with a trundle bed ideal for siblings.
Casa la Aguila is the only house with a bathtub, all the others have showers.
